Carving Pumpkins!

We are a bit behind all you Alaskans, but we managed to get our pumpkins carved last night. I started yesterday while Macy and Stuart were at school, Fiona was napping, and Myles was very interested in what was going on. I did mine so that I would have the time to help the other kids when Grady got home from work. We planned to do it after dinner. But, as I had expected, the kids were way to excited to start on this process, and we began cleaning them out immediately upon arrival. We agreed upon just cleaning them out and then carving when Daddy was home. He called and was going to be a bit late, so we just dove in! We printed out some patterns to carve on each pumpkin, and then got gooey!
Macy is by far my biggest partner in the carving business. She loved to deseed the pumpkin. These pictures are out of order. These pictures are out of order. I loaded them correctly, but they uploaded wrong. Sorry. Fiona took over Stuart's scraping (see below).
Macy loves the roasted seeds, and couldn't wait for me to get them made. I ran out of time last night, but she asked me to put some in this morning. We managed to get one batch finished before she left for school, so she took a small baggie with her to munch on.

While I took the two younger ones in for a bath, Macy worked on getting her pumpkin scraped clean. She did an awesome job! I am really seeing some "bigness" coming out in her. She's so willing to help and I am so loving the help! After she was finished, she played with them in the tub while I finished up her pumpkin.
This was taken before the kids got home from school.
Myles tried his hand at the stringy goo.........but decided he liked the scoop much better!

Stuart didn't want anything to do with the goo, but took on the scraping after Mommy did the "dirty work".

And, he did a great job!

He gave up the Scooby Doo pattern so that he could help me do the carving. We made a vampire "Jaggety Lantern". He wanted me to take a picture of him doing it, so here it is! I have not gotten any pictures of the finished ones. I will take some day and some night ones and get them posted for you all to see. I did some Martha Stewart idea mixed with my pattern, and it turned out cute. The next two batches of seeds are about finished. Gotta love the convection oven....two pans at once!
Stuart also has a PJ party at school today, and then a parade this afternoon. I will try to get some pictures of it to share.
What are your big plans for Halloween?

Now that looks like fun. You'll have to send a pic of all of them together so I can see the faces!

Miss you all,

Looks like the kids had a fun time with the pumpkins. I'm with Stu, I'm not to into the gutting, I'll do it but I'd rather be carving! It's to bad the kids missed the carnival, I was thinking that it was last year at the carnival that I got to know you! I'm so glad we went to it and met, I've had so much fun hanging out with you and the family. Once we get the furniture moved into the basement I think we might have a little shindig to celebrate the completion, Ciara is pretty excited about her green room and I think I'm going to paint Dalins various shades of blue. I can't wait till he's in his own room!!!
