We rented a car and drove down to Soldotna for the night. Some of our hunting buddies have a place there that they spend the entire month of July fishing. This is where Grady caught the whopper! Here are a few pictures....
Checking out the view at Beluga point. The tide was out, so we had no luck seeing any whales here. We were past this place four times, but never when the tide was in.
Portage Glacier. We did not take the drive back closer, but zoomed in with the camera. This was amazing.
And the water... it's beautiful. The Kenai River was this color almost all of the way down to the fishing point.
Here we are out on the boat. We went for a ride. Monday is the day that you can not fish from a motorized boat, only drifting, so we went site seeing instead.
Okay, so the rental wasn't a car... it was a MINIVAN! Now known as the Blue Turd. The Kia Sodona got us from point A to point B, but was the loudest car ever. We had to yell just to hear each other. I guess that wind noise protection is what is left out when you are looking for cheaper in vehicles. But...the gas mileage was great!
Speaking of camp, here is a photo of our sleep spot. It was wonderful. We enjoyed it and I cleaned it up since we were the last ones to stay in it before the season was up. Thanks, Mike and George for the fun times!
