We left the house at 11 this morning to pick up some Alaskan hunters at the airport. After driving around for fourty minutes looking for the first to arrive, I finally gave in and parked the suburban. I had not taken any money, so I was scared to do so. As soon as we walked into the "Baggage Claim" area, we saw George sitting. He wasn't expecting us until after Mike arrived an hour later. I'm happy we decided to go in. As we were waiting for the second plane to arrive, the area began filling with red, white and blue balloons, and the families carrying them, of course. I spotted a TV camera crew, and a fire engine outside. It was pretty obvious that we were going to witness the coming home of some soldiers. There were quite a few that walked down those stairs, and tears just filled my eyes. The crowd cheered and the sirens sounded. To be able to see something like that in person is breathtaking!
Well, after the arrival of Mike, we loaded up the bags and guns in the good ole suburban and headed home. I had to make them pay for the parking fare. I'm not a very good "Fly Cab". I was home long enough to unlock the door, and drop off the baggage. We were going to Costco. Stuart was so excited to show Mike the helicopter he wanted. We ended up spending two hours in that place, so it was 3 before we left. Good thing Costco gives out samples. My kids made a lunch out of samples including: corndogs, burritos, spinich filled ravioli (amazingly!), lunch meat, cookies, muffins, and much more quick to make foods. They sampled a sparkling juice and ended with a sample of glucosamine "pop" as the kids said. They were given a churro to eat after check-out, but must have been sugared out because they gave it to mommy. Above is a picture of Fiona. She also got so sample the cookies, 2 or 3 to be exact. I tried to capture her "wearing" the third that did not make it to her mouth or was thrown out before it caused a choking hazzard.
After Poppy arrived to take the Alaskans back to Wyoming, we headed up to the airport AGAIN to take Carol Smith to catch her flight to Seattle. She gets to go back east to see all of the fall colors. We'll visit her again in ten days when she returns. We have started winding down the evening with pizza. We're off to pack clothes, birds, diapers, birthday goodies, etc. for our week long hunting and visiting trip home (Wyoming). I'll try to post pictures and an update when we return on the 22nd.
Have a Great Week everyone!
